Bangor’s Hamilton gets Dartmouth job

HANOVER, N.H. – Bangor native Christopher Hamilton has been appointed men’s and women’s diving coach at Dartmouth College.

Hamilton was most recently employed as assistant diving coach at the Brandon Swim and Tennis Club in Florida, where he worked with U.S. diving team and summer camp divers.

“Everyone is excited about Chris joining our staff,” said Joann Brislin, Dartmouth’s women’s swimming coach.

“He brings a lot of energy and creativity to Dartmouth and we’re looking forward to working with him,” she said.

A two-time state diving champion at Bangor High, Hamilton is now the second former Rams diver currently coaching a Division I program. Kevin Wright, who dove for Ohio State after he graduated from Bangor, coaches the Texas A&M diving team.

“It’s great that there are two of us,” Hamilton said. “He [Wright] was my coach in my junior year at Bangor. I talked to him about four or five months ago and I wanted to go out and work with his group.”

Hamilton, who also played football for Bangor, was a five-time Division II diving All-American at Southern Connecticut State University before graduating in 1995. He was the 1992-93 national champion in the one-meter event.

He was the New England Division I and II champ at three meters in 1991 and 1993 and was named New England and national Division II diver of the year in 1993.

Hamilton coached at Foran High School in Connecticut, and has assisted at the college level at Central Connecticut State and Albertus Magnus College.

Hamilton holds a master’s degree in education from the University of New Haven.

Hamilton replaces Ron Keenhold, who retired in June after 37 years at Dartmouth.

Ingraham lands Bowdoin post

Peter Ingraham, who was a four-year soccer player at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, has been hired as an assistant coach for the Polar Bear men’s squad.

The 1999 graduate, who helped Bowdoin earn NCAA tournament berths in 1997 and ’98, will work under coach Tim Gilbride. Ingraham finished his career with 12 goals and registered 17 assists, the most in school history.
