Thibodeau goals propel Beavers to win

WASHBURN – Kyle Thibodeau scored two goals late in the second half as Washburn rallied to a 2-1 schoolboy soccer win over Easton Saturday.

Thibodeau scored his second goal with 4:19 remaining in the game to break a 1-1 tie and give the 3-1 Beavers the win. Allen Milton assisted on Thibodeau’s first goal and Frank Plucker provided the pass for the game winner. Jesse Maynard made 11 saves on 20 shots.

Marcel Chalou gave the 0-2 Bears a 1-0 lead with a goal off a pass from Matt Hopkins with 3:32 left in the first half. Jeff Blackstone stoped 19 of 31 shots.

Girls soccer

Washburn 9, Easton 0

At Washburn, Vanessa Sellars knocked in two goals and assisted on two others to lift Washburn to the win over Easton.

Angela Flanagan and Melissa Jordan notched two goals apiece for the 1-2-1 Beavers. Michelle Jordan, Amanda Hurley and Kristie Kelley each had one goal. Carrie McLaughlin contributed two assists and Megan Fitzgerald added one. Crystal Blakeney stopped both shots she faced.

Jessica Littlefield turned away 27 of 44 shots for Easton, now 0-2.
