BREWER – Tim Thornton will be recommended as the new Brewer High girls varsity basketball coach, the search committee announced Saturday. The search committee will present its recommendation to the School Committee Sept. 13.
“We are looking forward to Tim’s knowledge and experience helping us to build our total girls basketball program to a higher level,” said Brewer athletic director Dennis Kiah.
Thornton was recently hired to teach social studies at Brewer High. He had been the assistant principal at Hermon. He coached the Hermon girls to a state championship in 1989, an Eastern Maine title in 1994 and an EM runner-up finish in 1990. He was the MABC Class B Coach of the Year in 1989 and ’94.
