NEWPORT – Jeff Oertel’s first-half goal and Matt Anderson’s second-half score, both unassisted, enabled Bangor to overcome a 28-save performance by Nokomis’ Tyler Peters and edge Nokomis 2-1 in boys soccer action Monday.
Bangor improved its record to 3-0-1.
Brian Sing made five saves on 10 shots.
Peters faced 39 shots.
Brian Hawthorne scored off a penalty kick for 1-2-1 Nokomis.

Penquis 9, Lee 1
At Milo, Jeremy Allen scored four goals and Eric Ballash assisted on all four and scored a pair of goals himself as Penquis dealt Lee its first loss after four wins.
Penquis is 3-1.
Jeremy Webb had a goal and two assists with George Ellsworth and Ben Knapp scoring the other goals. Matt Pokrywka made 10 saves on 12 shots.
Matt Corbin scored for Lee off a Chris Cole feed and Adam Ham made 20 stops on 29 shots.
Searsport 7, Sumner 0
At East Sullivan, Joey Light scored three goals, his third consecutive hat trick, to spark the Vikings to victory.
Rusty Grove and Ben Relyea contributed one goal and one assist each for 5-0 Searsport, while Tucker Mercier and Pasco Grove scored on goal each. T.J. Curtis provided two assists, while Relyea and Joe Ogden combined for six saves on six shots.
Jimmy Malloy registered 10 saves on 17 shots for 1-3 Sumner.
Central 2, DI-Stonington 0
At Deer Isle, Justin Ladd and Joe Allen connected for second-half goals as Central of Corinth downed Deer Isle-Stonington.
Lowell Oyster picked up an assist for the 2-2 Red Devils. James Nickerson made two saves on five shots.
Andy Bye racked up 20 saves on 30 shots for th 0-4 Mariners.
John Bapst 4, Bucksport 0
At Bucksport, Jon Rudnicki scored a pair of goals and assisted on another as the Crusaders improved to 2-2.
Bryan Snyder had a goal and an assist and Nate Susi had the other goal for John Bapst. JB goalie Casey Lawson made six saves on eight shots.
James Booth and Kyle Howard combined for six saves on 11 shots for 1-3 Bucksport.

Ellsworth 5, Hermon 4 (OT)
At Hermon, Cooper Friend converted a penalty kick into the game-winning goal with 1:57 to play in the first overtime as the Eagles remained unbeaten.
Friend was awarded the kick on a hand ball infraction.
Graham Macbeth scored three goals for the 3-0 Eagles. Derek Awalt scored a goal while Isaiah Hangge and Friend notched assists. Joseph Richards made three saves on 10 shots.
Mike Dube tallied three goals for the 1-3 Hawks. Parker Roberts added a goal while Kurt Calligan and Josh Danforth notched contributed assists. Donnie Hewes and John King combined to make five saves on 14 shots.

Old Town 1, Orono 1 (2OT)
At Orono, Jon Graves scored for the Indians with 20 seconds left in regulation as the teams played to a tie.
Mike Stoup assisted on Graves’ goal. Tim Dolley made 13 saves on 14 shots for 3-0-1 Old Town.
Daryl Watson put the 1-2-1 Red Riots in the lead with a goal three minutes into the game off an assist by Robert Murdoch. Mark Mehuren stopped 14 of the 15 shots he faced.

Girls soccer
East Grand 3, Averill 0
At Danforth, Tera Cropley scored two goals to pace the Vikings to victory.
Misha Whitney had one goal and one assist for East Grand. Lindsay Faulkner made 10 saves on 19 shots.
Kelli Kruger made five saves on eight shots for Averill School of Hinckley.
Field hockey
Dexter 4, Hermon 0
At Dexter, Sarah Clukey scored two goals and recorded an assist as the Tigers remained undefeated.
Kristy Veazie added a goal and two assists. Kristin Gilbert scored a goal and an assist and Sam Haskell added an assist. Angie Westover made seven saves on eight shots for 4-0 Dexter.
Kacie Hutchinson stopped four of the 11 shots she faced for the 2-2 Hawks.

Nokomis 6, Bangor 0
At Newport, Liz Mendell scored four goals and set up another to propel Nokomis to victory.
Mandi Foss scored twice for the 3-1 Warriors, with Nicole Palmer, Jesse Randlett and Laura Pelkey notching one assist apiece. Amanda Swain made four saves on four shots.
Allison Frazier made 23 saves on 29 shots for 0-3 Bangor.

Mattanawcook 2, Old Town 0
At Lincoln, Kim Burleigh and Jenn Comeau connected on two goals to lead the Lynx.
Burleigh scored off a Comeau assist in the first period and assisted on Comeau’s goal in the second period. Tracie Pickering made nine saves on 13 shots for 2-2 Mattanawcook Academy.
Kristin Osborne stopped 14 of the 16 shots she faced for the 1-2 Indians.
