Bills backstops MMA men’s win over Husson

CASTINE – Wels Baker, Ian Bouvier and Mohammed Ope Molley scored a goal apiece Wednesday as Maine Maritime Academy posted a 3-1 men’s soccer victory over Husson College of Bangor.

Mike Bills made nine saves on 18 shots for the 2-2 Mariners. Derek Wilding assisted on Baker’s goal.

Amadou Thaim scored the lone goal for the 4-2 Braves. Mark Cuccinelli made three saves on 12 shots.

Women’s soccer

Bowdoin 2, U-New England 0

At Biddeford, Amy Trumbull and Shelly Chessie scored goals five minutes apart early in the second half to gain the victory over the University of New England.

Trumbull’s goal came in the 55th minute assisted by Katie Sheridan. Alison Lavoie assisted on Chesie’s goal. Sarah Farmer saved nine of nine shots for the 4-0 Polar Bears.

Becky Brown stopped seven shots for 1-2-1 University of New England.

Field hockey

Colby 2, UM-Farmington 1

At Waterville, first-half goals by Robynne DeCaprio and Marcia Ingraham stood up as Colby edged UM-Farmington.

Jaime Cassidy and Kara Hubbard had assists for Colby and goalie Jane Stevens made five saves.

Molly Philbrick scored for UMF and Fawn Albert made 15 stops.
