SOUTH PORTLAND — A junior at South Portland High School accused of posting threatening statements about teachers and administrators on the World Wide Web has been suspended and arrested.
The 16-year-old, whose name was not released because he is a juvenile, was placed in his parents’ custody.
Police interviewed students who were seen looking at the Web site at school, including some who reportedly added their own comments, but determined that the teen created the Web site alone.
“We don’t have any reason to believe anybody else was involved,” police Chief Edwin Googins said.
The teen was charged with two counts of terrorizing. He was suspended from school for 10 days Tuesday, Superintendent Reginald MacDonald said. The school board could impose a longer suspension or expel the student after a confidential hearing.
