Belfast edges Mount View

CASTINE – Amanda Brown scored her second goal of the night in double overtime to give the Belfast Lions a 2-1 high school field hockey victory over the Mount View Mustangs Saturday under the lights at Maine Maritime Academy.

Jaimee Cameron and Sara McIntire added assists. Goalie Kristina Lane stopped nine of 10 for the 9-1-1 Lions.

Audra Caler scored Mount View’s lone goal. Goalie Ellen Ward saved 13 of 15 for the 10-2 Mustangs.

Dexter 3, Hermon 0

At Hermon, Kristin Gilbert paced Dexter with two goals as the Tigers shut out the Hawks.

Kristy Veazie also scored, while Sarah Clukey, Jess Ellis, and Erika Haiko added assists. Goalie Angie Westover stopped all 22 shots she faced for the 12-0 Tigers.

Goalie Kacie Hutchinson saved 17 of 20 for the 7-5-0 Hermon Hawks.

Nokomis 2, John Bapst 0

At Newport, Mandi Foss scored both goals to lead Nokomis to victory.

Liz Mendell added two assists on the day. Goalie Amanda Swain stopped three of four for the 10-2 Warriors.

Goalie Kitty Sullivan saved 27 of 30 for the 3-7 Crusaders of Bangor.

Girls soccer

Old Town 4, Dexter 0

At Dexter, Meghan King led Old Town with three goals.

Erin Ouellette also netted a goal. Kristin Tracewski added two assists and Jessica Maurais had one. Goalie Renee Thibodeau stopped 6 of 10 for the 10-1-1 Indians.

Goalies Ashley Stewart and Rose Larabee combined to save 10 of 18 for 3-8 Dexter.

Ellsworth 3, Mount Desert 0

At Ellsworth, Becky Lock led Ellsworth with one goal and two assists.

Jodi Merchant and Monica Gardner also netted goals. Goalie Bekah Metzler stopped seven of 10 for the 10-1-2 Eagles.

Goalie Sarah Johnson saved 11 of 24 for the 2-6-4 Trojans.

Bucksport 2, Searsport 1

At Searsport, Cara Pollard scored with 2:17 left to lift Bucksport.

Jessica Sawyer tied it in the second half for the 7-4-1 Bucks, while Brittany Damon turned away six of 13 shots.

Sarah Ginn scored for 8-2-1 Searsport and Erica Curtis made eight saves on 12 shots.

Orono 3, Hermon 1

At Hermon, Kati Libby had two goals and an assist to lift 9-1-1 Orono.

Ragnhild Skjetne added a goal and an assist, while Erica Breton tallied an assist and Sarah Grey stopped six of eight shots.

Jenny Buzzell converted a Melissa Overlock assist for 2-11-1 Hermon. Tabby Stevens stopped 15 of 22 shots for the Hawks.

Belfast 49, Lake Region 20

At Bridgton, Robbie Skillings ran for 135 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries to lead Belfast to the win.

Brandon Hurd racked up 80 yards and two touchdowns on five carries. Quarterback Ben Morley recorded 74 yards rushing and one touchdown on eight carries.

Dan Robinson completed 12 of 20 passes for 162 yards to lead the Lake Region attack. Corey O’Brien gained 114 yards on 17 carries.

At Bangor, BJ Birtz led Mattanawcook of Lincoln by completing six of nine passes for 140 yards and rushing for another 85 on three carries. Defensively, middle linebackers Nate Leighton and Nick Albert combined for 15 tackles.

Matt Fisher passed to Dwayne Judkins for a two yard touchdown in the third quarter for the John Bapst Crusaders of Bangor.

At Winslow, Kevin Do tied the game on a 43-yard third-quarter scamper and Eric Gallant provided the winning margin with the ensuing conversion rush for Mountain Valley of Rumford.

Gallant scored the Falcons’ first touchdown on a two-yard plunge.

At Waterville, Waterville quarterback Dean Carpenter completed four of 10 passes for 109 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Purple Panthers to victory.

Fullback Tony Harmon rushed for 111 yards on 23 carries and hadt an interception as cornerback. Waterville tallied 359 total yards.

Cony had 30 total yards and only three first downs.
