Blind Albert, the blues/rock band led by guitarist and vocalist Blind Albert (the alter-ego of Vince Gabriel), celebrates the release of its first CD, Seeineyedawg, in a party at Benjamin’s Tavern and Bistro at 123 Franklin St., Bangor, on Friday from 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
The three-piece band features Gabriel on electric guitar and vocals, Bill Baty on drums and back-up vocals, and Tim Cousins, on bass and back-up vocals. Lincoln Blake frequently joins Blind Albert on saxophone and sometimes piano, and also appears on the CD. He may join the band on stage Friday night.
The band’s sound could be compared to the blues rock of Cream, Stevie Ray Vaughn and ZZ Top as well as the more pure electric blues of Jimmy Rogers and Eddie Kirkland. The CD features live and studio recordings of Gabriel’s compositions. The band includes covers in their stage show.
