Linda S. Davis, a business teacher at Jay High School and a graduate of the University of Maine at Machias, has been recognized by the Eastern Business Education Association as the 1999 Secondary Educator of the Year.

Davis was instrumental in rewriting curriculum to incorporate computers in Jay High School’s business education department. She has worked on staff development committees and has served as yearbook adviser, junior and senior class coordinator, cheerleading coach and grant writer. She and her students offer services to various community groups including the local Methodist church, the Jay-Livermore-Livermore Falls Chamber of Commerce, and the Western Maine Career Committee.

The 22-year teacher has served as the Maine director of the New England Business Education Association in 1994-96. She is secretary and president-elect of the Eastern Business Education Association.
