Players of the Week

College MIKE FENNESSY

University of Southern Maine’s Mike Fennessy was named Little East Conference’s Player of the Week. Fennessy, a fifth-year senior averaged 24.0 points and 9.7 rebounds in three games while shooting 54 percent from the field, inluding 55 percent from three-point range, and 85 percent from the foul line. The Lewiston-native was also named to the all-tournament team at the Plymouth State College Tap-Off Tournament.

MELISSA SAWYER

Melissa Sawyer of the University of Southern Maine has been named Rookie of the Week by the Little East Conference. Sawyer, a native of Oakland, was named the Most Valuable Player in the season-opening Colby Sawyer College Tournament where she lead the Huskies to two wins. Sawyer averaged 13.7 points, 4 rebounds and shot 46 percent from the floor including 37 percent from three-point range in the three games.
