BREWER – Freshman Jamie Mansfield scored two goals – including the game-winner 1:41 into overtime – to lift the Brewer Witches past the Brunswick Dragons 3-2 in a season-opening high school hockey game at Bouchard Arena Saturday.

Will Prescott passed the puck to Josh Caldwell and Caldwell tipped it to Mansfield, who was stationed to the right of the net, and Mansfield poked it in. All three players are freshmen.

For the 1-0 Witches, Caldwell and Jesse Simko each had two assists. Craig Frey scored the other goal and Doug Grass added an assist. In goal, Rob Elliott made 17 saves on 19 shots.

John Leonard scored unassisted for the 0-1 Dragons and Frank Uhrick scored on an assist by Jamie Faureau. Ed Stachowiak saved 19 of 22 shots.
