I am thrilled to read that MBNA is adding yet another 800 jobs to the state of Maine. The company provides safe, clean jobs with good pay and benefits, without destroying either atomosphere or water table. The credit card industry is a fact of life, whether or not one approves of it — we might as well reap the benefits here in Maine. And there’s no question but what MBNA shares its profits — immense as those apparently are — with the towns that feel the impacts of their expansion.
But I sure wish they’d expand in the towns that have people out of work, like Milo or Millinocket, instead of making the already crowded and stretched midcoast even more so. Virginia Thorndike Lincolnville
