Union names state rep acting town manager

WARREN — Selectmen appointed state Rep. Christine Savage, R-Union, acting town manager Wednesday to cover for the town manager who is on medical leave.

Town Manager Grant Watmough is out indefinitely for medical reasons, according to the town clerk, and Savage will be filling in until his return.

Savage, who was previously town manager from 1991 to 1995 in Warren, is able to jump right in at a time when the town is busy preparing budgets and plans for town meeting, she said.

“I’m pleased to be able to do this for Grant,” Savage said Thursday, saying she has the time to devote to the job since the legislative session is expected to be brief.
