PORTLAND — The Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland launched a new Web site, www.DiocesePortlandMaine.org, on Jan. 3. The site contains information about the diocese — its history, structure, parishes, schools and other ministries — and provides contacts for questions and comments.

William Richards of the diocese and David Twomey III, a junior at Cheverus High School in Portland, spearheaded the project. The Web site was organized and designed by professional graphic designers who volunteered time and talent, and a local Internet company.

The history of the diocese, with pictures, will be published on the site with a chat room for Youth Ministry and Junior High Religious Education students by spring. Call 773-6471.
