Sobey, Pats defeat Valley> Bangor Christian wins sixth

BANGOR – Lari Sobey scored 27 points and ripped down 12 rebounds to pace Bangor Christian to a 48-37 schoolgirl basketball win over Valley at Husson College on Saturday.

Tiff Messer put in nine to pace the Valley attack.

At Houlton, the Golden Bucks got 40 points from sophomore point guard Jason Harvey and connected on 35 of 51 field goal attempts as a team as they upended the Shiretowners.

Harvey keyed a 72-percent, 13-for-18 Bucksport effort from behind the 3-point arc by making seven of eight attempts. Corey Guilford made four 3-pointers and scored 30 more for the Bucks. Mike Ogden added 10.

Frank DiStefano netted 33 for Houlton, which lost despite making 40 of its 62 attempts from the floor. Reuben Thomas added 21, Kyle Hipsley had 16 and Jay O’Connell netted 12 for the Shiretowners.

Kyle McMorrow and Josh Hart each scored two goals. Chris Hart, Nate Hart, Chris Morgan, Casey Sprogis and Brooks Paradis added one goal apiece. Goalies Chris Kronenthel, Tony Boutin and Marc Dostie combined to stop 12 of 15 shots.

Will Prescott, Ryan Largay and Josh Caldwell each scored a goal for Brewer. Justin Boober made 36 saves on 47 shots.
