BANGOR — Rabbi Dr. Laurence Milder is among 40 American rabbis, members of the Reform Zionist of America, on a mission to Israel from Jan. 17 to 25 to support rights of Reform Jews in Israel.

The peace process will focus on meetings of rabbis and Palestinian leadership in the Arab city of Ramallah and West Bank settlers in Beit El.

Rabbis will pray at the Western Wall, where previous gatherings of Reform Jews have been met with resistance from Orthodox rabbis.

In celebration of the holiday of Tu Bishvat, the Jewish “Arbor Day,” the rabbis will plant a tree at the Kenesset.

Rabbi Milder of Congregation Beth El in Bangor will report on his trip at Sabbath services at Beth El at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11.
