Flutie awards $45,000 to Maine youths

In part with the Fleet All-Stars contest, Doug Flutie will award $45,000 to more than 200 Maine kids representing 10 youth groups that completed outstanding community service projects.

The first-place $15,000 winner is the Maine State YMCA Camp in Winthrop. The second-place $7,500 winner is Good Will-Hinckley School in Hinckley. The following third-place winners will be presented $3,000 each: Augusta Teen Adventure Camp; Cadette Girl Scout Troop #485 in Brunswick; Cape Elizabeth teens from Day One; Gray-New Gloucester High School; University of Maine Cooperative Extention/Boy Scout Troop #454 in Skowhegan; Manchester School in Windham; York Community Downtime Center and Portland’s Percival P. Baxter Elementary School.
