People in Maine should contact their representatives in Washington about the government putting price controls on oil products. It’s obvious the large oil companies are not going to do anything about the prices they are charging.
They blame everything on OPEC and the refineries for the lack of crude and fuel oils. There is no excuse for oil companies running out of kerosene or any other types of heating oil in the middle of winter. They know what Maine winters are like and should have ample supplies on hand without having to inflate the prices.
I also urge Mainers to switch to natural gas when it becomes available. You can bet they won’t run out of gas in the middle of winter. We are paying almost double for oil that the oil companies bought months ago at a cheaper price, but they are charging us inflated prices. Ralph L. Staples Bangor
