LINCOLNVILLE — The Ducktrap Coalition will be host of a public meeting regarding the proposed listing of the wild Atlantic salmon of the Ducktrap River under the federal Endangered Species Act.

The meeting will be from 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, March 15, at the Lincolnville Center Community Building on Route 173.

Landowners in the Ducktrap River watershed and residents of the western Penobscot Bay region are particularly encouraged to bring their questions and comments to the meeting.

Mary Colligan of the National Marine Fisheries Service and Paul Nickerson of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will present information on the background of the listing proposal and how it might affect the landowners of the Ducktrap River watershed and the work of the Ducktrap Coalition.

The Ducktrap Coalition, coordinated by Coastal Mountains Land Trust and composed of 20 public, private and local organizations, has pursued a comprehensive conservation program in the Ducktrap River Watershed since 1995. The program is based on voluntary cooperation with owners of land along the river, its tributaries, and throughout the watershed.
