Maine used to send the first Atlantic salmon caught in the Bangor Salmon Pool to the president. Now we are told not to eat fish caught in Maine’s inland waters.

We have dammed our streams and rivers, poured industrial and residential waste into them and pumped out the water for agriculture.

Now the salmon have just about stopped coming back, so we blame seals, cormorants and offshore fishing for the problem.
