I attended the play “The Children’s Hour” at the Penobscot Theatre on March 12. The information on their premailed postcard told about a play set in the 1930s at a New England school for girls. This American classic pits a malicious student against two teachers. Nowhere in this synopsis does it say it contains adult content not suitable for children.
I took my 11-year-old granddaughter, planning on an afternoon of enjoyment. Imagine my dismay when in the third act she was exposed to lesbianism and suicide. This should have been listed on the postcard as suitable for adults, or when I called for tickets for a child it should have been explained. Bonnie M. Cone Orrington
