Another way to reduce school violence is to create an atmosphere of mutual respect, where the kids are able to respect and look up to their teachers. If more teachers were open-minded and listened to students, then students would build up trust and respect for teachers. I am speaking from a student’s perspective because I am a student at Sumner Memorial High School in Sullivan.

A way I think might help students and faculty gain respect for each other is student-faculty games; basketball, floor hockey and volleyball are popular at Sumner. This way faculty and students step away from the traditional classroom relationship and are able to form respectful friendships. This is one of many ways in which the school community will get to know each other in a positive atmosphere. Adrienne E. Buckley East Sullivan
