CLINTON — Five people are seeking two seats on the Board of Selectmen.
Three of the candidates are vying for a three-year term. They are Maynard Clair of Bangor Road; Geraldine Dixon of Dixon Road; and incumbent Selectman Blynn Galusha.
Two candidates hope to win a one-year term: Chester Nutting of Hill Road and Muriel Moores of Hinckley Road.
Selectman Gary Richards circulated nomination papers for a one-year term but apparently failed to return them by Friday’s 4 p.m. deadline. He arrived at 4:02 p.m.
He said he hopes Town Clerk Michelle Flewelling, who was away Friday, will let him run anyway. “We’ll have to wait and see what the town clerk has to say,” Richards said.
In other matters, seven residents are seeking six seats on a newly-created commission to create a town charter.
Running are Kenneth Abbott of Mutton Lane; Dick Goodwin, a Main Street merchant; Donald Harrington of Hillcrest Drive; Ray Locke of Baker Street; John Miller of Bangor Road; Doug Tatham of Old Route 23; and Brian Wright of Horseback Road.
The polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 13.
