NEWPORT – Justin Veazie salvaged a doubleheader split for Nokomis as he threw a four-hitter and the Warriors posted a 7-2 high school baseball win over Caribou in the second game on Saturday. Caribou won 9-5 in the first game.
In the first game, Jerry Shanahan singled twice, and struck out six batters as the Vikings. Geoff Grabick doubled twice, singled once and drove in four runs.
Joe Mendell paced the Warriors with three singles while Brian Hawthorne tallied two singles.
In the second game, Hawthorne hit a two-run single to power Nokomis. Brandon Cossar drove in one with a double. Caribou’s Seth McCrossin racked up two RBIs with a single.

At Dexter, Matt Foster fired a one-hitter to lead the Tigers past the Hawks.
Foster struck out four without walking a batter. Ross Morrison had two singles and an RBI while Ryan Robichaud drove in a run with a double and Eric Cooley and Mark Cooper had an RBI apiece for Dexter.
Ronnie Lane had Hermon’s only hit.

Greenville collects two wins
At Greenville, Tyler Muzzy went 4-for-4 with three singles and a double for two RBIs to lead the Lakers to a 3-0 win in the first game of a doubleheader. Greenville won the second game 11-1.
In the first game, Gregory Aucoin tripled twice for two RBIs and Frank Bushey hit two singles for the Lakers. Ben Earle nailed a three-run home run and a double for Windham Christian and Justin Conforte singled and doubled.
In the second game, Tom Mason led Greenville with a single and a double with three RBIs. Muzzy ripped two singles and Bushey singled and doubled for the Lakers.
Both Earle and Dick Ray singled for the Warriors.

Highview, Forest Hills split
At Memorial Field in Skowhegan, Nick Waite smacked a two-run triple and scored on an error in the seventh inning to lift Highview Christian to a 12-10 victory to open a doubleheader. The Tigers of Jackman took the second game 23-13.
In the first game, Highview Christian of Charleston’s Brandon Philbrick hit an RBI single and David Bryson added a double. Jason Nadeau singled twice for Forest Hills and Jason Nadeau had an RBI single.
In the second game, Nick Levesque hit a three-run double in the second inning for the Tigers and Roger Paradise singled twice. Bryson and David Day hit two singles apiece for the Knights.

Scott DeCastro tripled, singled and recorded an RBI for Piscataquis. Randy Burgess hit two singles and drove in a run. Josh Haskell doubled and singled.
Ben Relyea led the Vikings with three RBIs on two doubles. Pasco Grove fanned 12 and walked seven in the loss.

At Deer Isle, Zac Reed and Matt McLellan let loose in the fourth inning as they each hit a two-run homer to power Mattanawcook Academy.
Reed and McLellan also added two singles apiece and McLellan finished with three RBIs. Travis Proctor hit two singles and John Crocker had a two-run single for the Lynx.
Jon Klemenz smacked a two-run homer in the second inning for the Mariners. Justin Boyce and Josh Bolton hit two singles apiece.

Bodie Abbott, Jared Archilles and Kris Reed had a single each for the Trojans.

Nokomis sweeps Caribou
At Newport, Tonya Cray hit for the cycle to lead the Warriors over the Vikings 18-2 in the first game of a doubleheader. Nokomis took the second game 13-10.
In the first game, Michelle Murray belted a three-run homer and a single. Liz Mendell and Danielle Clark each hit a triple and a single for the Warriors. Samantha Grier and Ashley Monahan singled twice to lead the Viking attack.
In the second game, Clark ripped a three-run home run and two singles to pace Nokomis. Murray nailed a triple and two singles and Nicole Palmer doubled and tripled.
Caribou’s Monahan singled.
