EAST SULLIVAN – Royce Blackwood rapped a two-run single and Blake Alley added an RBI single as Sumner put up six runs in the first inning and rolled to a 15-4 schoolboy baseball win over Dexter Tuesday.

Sumner won for the fourth time in five games.

Sophomore Dustin Young, making his first varsity start, struck out six and didn’t walk anybody to earn the win. Blackwood finished with three singles and three RBIs, Greg Ingalls ripped a double and triple and had two RBIs, and Alley posted two singles and two RBIs.

Brent Patterson led Dexter with a triple and single.

Bucksport 8, Ellsworth 2

At Bucksport, Ricky McHale scattered seven hits and drove in four runs with a pair of singles to power Bucksport to its fourth consecutive win.

McHale’s two-run single and subsequent RBI singles by Justin Barnes and Abram Allard keyed a five-run fifth inning that broke the game open.

McHale fanned seven and didn’t walk anybody.

Warren Chase had a double and two singles and Jason Harvey singled twice for the Bucks. Each scored twice.

Courtney Bunker had a double and two singles for Ellsworth; Mike Archer doubled and singled and Chad Smith singled twice and had an RBI.

At East Sullivan, the visiting Tigers erupted for six runs on five steals and two errors in the seventh inning to erase a 5-1 deficit and stun the Tigers.

Karen Nelson led the Tigers with two singles and Kristi Veazie had a double. Nelson and Lori Walker combined on a five-hitter. Frankie Bohm hit a pinch-hit, one-out, two-run single to highlight the seventh.

Jill Osier hit an RBI triple and Rachel Philio added a two-run single for the Tigers.

Annette Caswell (3-0) struck out 10 and walked two en route to a two-hitter as the Golden Bucks blanked Ellsworth.

The Bucks put the game away with an eight-run fourth inning highlighted by Emily Woodward’s two-run single, four walks and two other hits. Woodward, Heather Pelletier, and Leah Page each had a hit and a walk in the inning.

Katie Sirois and Amanda Smith singled to provide Ellsworth’s only hits.
