I read with interest the letter (BDN, April 29-30) concerning the truck blocking the handicap spot at the Airport Mall.
I am a security guard at the Maine Coast Mall in Ellsworth. Part of my job is to place warnings on the vehicles of these violators. However, almost every day I see another kind of misuse of these spots. A vehicle will drive into a handicap spot, maybe having handicap plates or maybe its driver will throw the hanging decal onto the rear-view mirror. The person will then get out and quite ably walk or even run into the mall.
Obviously it is someone else who has the right to be using this privilege. Sheer blatant laziness and disregard prevails here. Why don’t you just walk a little farther, and thank God that you can. Errol Nickerson Blue Hill Falls
