LIMESTONE – Matt Allen’s RBI single in the top of the sixth put Hodgdon up for good as the Hawks held off Limestone 7-6 Saturday in high school baseball action.

Allen added a double for Hodgdon while Chris Blanchette hit a double and an RBI single.

Steve Hardwick paced the Eagles with a double, single and two RBIs. Adam McPherson, Derek Patten and Eric Crook added two singles each.

At Sherman Station, Doug Atkinson’s singled plated Chris Robinson in the bottom of the seventh to win the game for the Cougars.

Justin Stevens added two singles and Chris Robinson hit a double for Katahdin. Stevens and Robinson tallied two RBIs each for the Cougars.

Mike Andrews paced Fort Fairfield with four singles and three RBI. Brandon Traknis added three singles, while Ben Arato contributed two.

Old Town sweeps Caribou

At Old Town, Jason Thibodeau and Jason Robbins earned 11 and 12 strikeouts respectively each pitching one game for Old Town in the doubleheader. They won both 11-1 and 4-1.

In game one, Randy Rand paced the Indians with a double and two singles. Brian Tewhey added a double, single and two RBI while Chris Brissette, Jason Sirois and Kasey Powers tallied two singles each. Justin Selfridge and Jerry Shanahan each hit singles for Caribou.

In game two, John Graves led Old Town with two singles and two RBI and Thibodeau contributed a double. Shanahan tallied two singles and an RBI.

Averill sweeps East Grand

At Danforth, Anthony Almedia racked up four hits in two games as the Beavers of Hinckley took an 8-6 victory over the Vikings in the first game of a doubleheader and a 13-3 win in the nightcap.

In the first game, Almedia led the Beavers with two singles. Dan Irish doubled for the Vikings, while Jim Zugelder and Jeremy Williams each had two singles.

In the second game, Almedia collected a home run and a single for three RBIs. Matt Baudanza had triple and single with two RBIs. Luke Lucbonbolle doubled and drove in a run, and Eric Murray doubled twice.

Scott Flandery led East Grand with a triple, while Irish doubled.

Buckfield sweeps Greenville

At Buckfield, Rusty Williams tripled, singled and added three RBIs for a 16-6 win in the opening game of a doubleheader against the Lakers. Buckfield earned a 19-10 win in the second game.

In game one, Ben Russell hit two singles and recorded two RBIs for the Bucks. Derek Boucher tallied two singles and two RBIs for Greenville. Griz Aucoin hit a single and a double.

In game two, Williams, Brendan Harvey and Marco True each hit two singles a piece for Buckfield. Greenville’s Tommy Mason went 4-for-4 with two doubles, two singles and one RBI. Danny Campbell hit a two-run homerun and a single, while Derek Boucher added two singles.

At Blue Hill, Joel Wessel pitched a one-hitter with two strikeouts and two walks to shut down the Trojans.

Jon Lewandowski hit a triple, a double and a single and drove in three runs to power the Eagles. Toby Cole doubled twice and Tim Hikade hit two singles and had an RBI.

Jared Archilles doubled for Mount Desert Island’s only hit.

At Ellsworth, Bill Bruschi’s two-out, two-run double in the top of the seventh sparked the Broncos to the win.

Hampden Academy’s Pat Lacey hit a home run, single and added two RBIs, while Tom Davis and Sean Tardif contributed a triple each.

Courtney Bunker paced Ellsworth with a double, single and four RBIs. Chad Smith had a double and single, while Ryan Picard tallied a single and triple.

At Sherman Station, a one-out RBI triple by Keely Sayers, an RBI single by Jessica Ireland, and an RBI single by Melanie Belanger after a catcher’s interference call gave the visiting Tigers the win.

Ireland and Jessica Belanger each hit three singles while Sayers finished with a triple and single for Fort Fairfield.

For the Cougars, Megan Libby singled twice and doubled. Lindsay Duffy-Stanley doubled and singled, and Morgan Anderson singled twice.

Brewer sweeps Presque Isle

At Brewer, the Witches erupted for nine runs – all with two outs – in the first inning en route to 16 hits and a 17-0 blanking in the first game, and added 14 more hits in the second for a 17-5 win.

In the first game, Allison Wing went 4-for-4 with a double and three singles and an RBI while Katie LaChance had three singles and two RBIs to pace Brewer.

Tami Corey and Jenny Higgins each hit a three-run triple for the unbeaten Witches, and Cara McEwen had two singles and an RBI.

Jessica Miller led the Wildcats with two singles.

In the second game, Sarah Smith had a triple, two singles, and three RBIs to lead Brewer’s attack.

Higgins had two singles and three RBIs, Sara Agouab tripled, singled, and drove in two runs, and Sherri Capponi had two singles and two RBIs.

Bre Norsworthy had a double and a single for Presque Isle while Arika Levasseur singled twice.

Jodie Merchant singled twice and drove in Becca Saunders for the Eagles’ only run.

At Hermon, Keegan Richard led off the ninth inning with a double, followed by Amanda Johnson’s single and Laura Roach’s single to break the tie and win earn the victory.

Nikki Novak added a solo home run for the Crusaders of Bangor. Roach also had a double while Christina Rich and Amelia Mitchell-Storer tallied two singles each.

Amy Porter paced the Hawks with two singles and a two-run double, while Lindsay Duplisea added an RBI single.
