People of Maine, especially those thoroughly disgusted by the sleaziness and corruption that have so dishonored the public service of government: Come to Bangor this Saturday evening and check out something entirely different. Saturday, May 20 at 7 p.m., Ralph Nader will be at the Chateau Ballroom in Norumbega Hall on Harlow Street, across from Bangor City Hall. The public is invited.
Whatever else is said about him, you will not find a person on Earth to deny that Nader is honest, smart, hard-working and highly principled in his personal relationships. Nader has been calling us to protect our democratic system from the increasing influence of corporate money over elected lawmakers for 40 years. He invented the term “corporate welfare” to describe the way money buys power in politics.
People of Maine, you owe it to yourselves to go meet a presidential candidate whose morals and values are as honorable as yours, even if he is a Washington lawyer. Even though he’s never owned a car. (He certainly understands the world inside the Beltway as well as George Bush and Al Gore.) Jane Livingston Veazie
