Rockland teen swerves for animal, crashes car

SOUTH THOMASTON — A Rockland teen-ager lost control of her vehicle, which then struck a utility pole Thursday, when she swerved to avoid a small animal in the road.

Heather Randall, 16, of Rockland was traveling north on Buttermilk Lane in a 2000 Toyota when she lost control and left the roadway. The vehicle hit and broke a utility pole.

Randall and a passenger, Brenda Fernandez, 15, no address given, may have been injured, according to the report filed by Knox County Sheriff’s Sgt. Lawrence Hesseltine. A hospital spokesperson could not be reached to obtain medical information.

The Toyota sustained $9,000 damage in the 6:40 p.m. crash, according to a report.
