Brooke Keniston no-hits Penquis

BLUE HILL – Brooke Keniston pitched a no-hitter, striking out nine and not walking anybody, as George Stevens Academy beat visiting Penquis of Milo 5-0 in a schoolgirl softball game Wednesday.

Mandi Allen went two-for-three with two singles and four RBIs, while Nikki Allen and Nikki Kenniston each singled.

Megan Russell pitched a seven-hitter for Penquis.

At Brewer, Tami Corey pitched a four-hitter, striking out seven and walking one, and knocked in two runs with a triple and a single to pace the Witches.

Allison Wing rapped a triple and two singles with three RBIs and Sandra DeFilipp stroked a triple and two singles with one RBI for Brewer. Katie LaChance doubled and singled (3 RBIs) and Sarah Smith singled twice.

Melissa Gott smacked a two-run single for Mount Desert Island.

At Newport, Michelle Murray threw a four-hitter and Tonya Cray’s two-run double keyed a four-run fifth inning that erased a 2-1 deficit.

All four runs in the fifth were unearned.

Murray struck out two and walked five.

Jamie Wells also pitched a four-hitter for Hampden with eight strikeouts and one walk.

Cray had a single to go with her double and Danielle Clark tripled.

Wells had two singles and an RBI for Hampden and Sarah Aylward doubled.

At Lincoln, junior righty Kari Vance fired a five-inning one-hitter, striking out 11 and walking just one, and Kylee Allen belted a three-run homer to pace Mattanawcook Academy’s triumph.

Tracie Pickering had a double and two singles and knocked in two runs for Mattanawcook, Allison McLaughlin had two doubles and an RBI and Vance singled twice and drove in a pair of runs.

Greta Korsman’s second-inning infield single was the only hit for Guilford’s Picataquis Community High School.

At Hermon, Amy Porter’s three-run double and Lindsay Duplisea’s two-run single helped the Hawks jump out to a 8-0 lead after the first inning and they never looked back.

Tonya Laughlin had two singles and two RBIs, Jodi Reynolds singled twice and drove in three runs while Jessica Poole had two singles for Hermon.

Karen Nelson, Tiffany Pooler and Kay Soucy singled for Dexter.

John Bapst takes two

At Husson College in Bangor, Julie Crotty hit seven singles and tallied five RBIs in the two victories for the Crusaders over Foxcroft Academy, 22-6 and 14-8.

In the first game, John Bapst outhit Foxcroft 19-8 to earn the win. Laura Roach hit two singles, a double and had three RBIs and Alex Waring added two singles and two RBIs. Crotty had three singles and three RBIs in the first game. Sherrie Zimmerman and Alyssa Snow paced Foxcroft with two singles each.

In the second game, Roach hit a double and single; Crotty had four singles and two RBIs; and Christina Rich tallied three singles and two RBIs for John Bapst. Mandy Murray nailed a triple for Foxcroft; Leigh Cartwright had three singles and two RBIs; Darcy McCormick hit two singles.

At Howland, Jody Harvey spaced eight hits and aided her own cause with a double and two singles to lead Central past Penobscot Valley.

Crystal Strout knocked in three runs with a double and a single. She had a two-run double in the six-run fourth-inning rally that broke the game open.

Mitchelle Doyon and Erika Coyle each doubled and singled and delivered a run foir PVHS and Meagan Cyr cointributed a two-run double.

At Millinocket, the Stearns Minutemen won their ninth in a row courtesy of a pinch-hit single with one out in the fifth by Becca Saucier and a two-out RBI double by Nicole Duplisea.

Shena Pineau led Stearns’ offense with three singles and an RBI while Duplisea had two doubles and three RBIs total. Shannen Sirois struck out 12, walked nine, and pitched a four-hitter for the win.

Jill Osier hit an RBI single and struck out 11 in a complete-game effort on the mound. Cathy Emerton singled twice and Lauren Robinson added an RBI single.

At Orono, the Ellsworth Eagles took advantage of six Orono errors to earn the victory.

Amanda Smith tallied a double and two RBIs while Jodie Merchant had a three-RBI single. Jess Johnson added an RBI single for Ellsworth.

Molly Dupere paced Orono with two singles and two RBIs. Kati Libby and Laura Keating each had an RBI single.

At Machias, senior righthander Tricia Carver two-hit the Patriots to improve to 5-0. She struck out two and didn’t walk a batter.

Chelsie Carver notched an RBI single for the winners and Tricia Carver drove in a run on a fielder’s choice.

Meredith Moores scored BC’s run after two straight passed balls. She singled and advanced to second on Renee Mick’s single. Lari Sobey scattered five hits for BC, struck out seven and walked four.

Crusaders sweep Foxcroft

At Bangor, the Crusaders notched two important victories over the Foxcroft Academy Ponies at Husson College, 5-4 and 10-0.

In the first game, Andy Tremble hit a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning to score Nate Susi with the winning run. Zev Myerowitz added two singles and Ryan Logan had a two-run single for John Bapst.

Kyle Wentworth singled twice for Foxcroft.

In the second game, Tremble, Logan and Billy Chapman each hit two singles and had an RBI.

Myerowitz hit a triple, and a single with an RBI, while James Strout tallied two singles for the Crusaders. Brian Bellemare, Danny White and Matt Grant singled for Foxcroft.

At Newport, lefty Brandon Cossar spaced seven hits and Jon Blair’s lead-off homer and Brian Hawthorne’s two-run single highlighted a four-run third-inning rally that powered Nokomis past Hampden Academy.

Cossar struck out five and walked just one.

B.J. Bowden had two triples for the winners and Joe Mendell had a pair of singles and three RBIs. Cossar had two base hits and Hawthorne had a sacrifice fly to go with his two-run single. Pat Morse doubled.

Jim Tribou had an RBI double for Hampden Academy. Ben Adams and Pat Lacey also had doubles.

At Millinocket, in the first inning, Josh Emerson hit a grand slam and later on in the game hit a double in the Minutemen’s victory.

Winning pitcher Brad Wheaton struck out eight and helped his own cause with two singles, a double and three RBIs. Rob Donato hit a two-RBI double and a solo homer and Matt Montgomery contributed three singles and two RBIs. Jason Folsom added two singles for Stearns.

Greg Ingalls hit two singles and had an RBI for Sumner while Royce Blackwood had a double and single.

At Hermon, after the first two batters reached on fielding errors in the third inning, Brent Patterson drilled a one-out single to score both runners and gave the Tigers the only runs they’d need to win.

Matt Foster pitched a six-hitter for the Tigers.

Ryan Garland threw a four-hitter for the Hawks and Joey Schacht led the offense with two singles, including an RBI single in the fifth for the Hawks’ only run.

At Orono, the Eagles scored three unearned runs in the 11th inning to tip the Red Riots in a three-hour, 15-minute game.

Derek Awalt singled twice and drove in two runs for Ellsworth. Ryan Manjuck and Justin Gott added an RBI single each.

Bo Thomas and Brian Caggiano each hit two singles for Orono.

Andy Koncinsky had two base hits and an RBI for Central.
