HARRINGTON – Ashley Woodward induced a popup with the potential tying run at third base in the seventh inning Saturday as No. 1 Narraguagus advanced to the Eastern Maine Class C championship game with a 4-3 softball victory over No. 4 Stearns of Millinocket.

Woodward spaced seven hits, striking out three without issuing a walk, to improve to 14-0 on the season and snap the Minutemen’s 10-game win streak.

The Knights scored two unearned runs in the first. Kate Farnsworth had an RBI triple in the third and Raquel Oliver worked a bases-loaded walk in the fourth.

Oliver led the Knights with a double and a single. Meagan Skinner had two singles and Annie Woodsum doubled.

Stearns started the seventh with three consecutive singles to score one run. Back-to-back groundouts plated the other run.

Stearns’ Shannon Sirois, who tripled, struck out eight and walked four in scattering six hits. Brooke Legassey had a double, single, and one RBI.

Mattanawcook Acad. 12, Penquis 0

At Lincoln, Mattanawcook Academy’s Kari Vance held Penquis to two hits and no runs in five innings as the third-seeded Lynx reached the regional softball final for the first time.

Allison McLaughlin’s two-run single in the fifth gave the Lynx 12 runs, putting the 12-run rule into effect. She also doubled.

Tracie Pickering hit a double and two singles, Brandi Rideout hit a double and a single, and Desirae Haines notched two singles for MA.

Megan Russell and Lil Gerrish singled for No. 7 Penquis of Milo.

Bangor Christian 10, Ft. Fairfield 2

At Bangor, Lari Sobey fired a one-hitter and the Patriots banged out 16 hits in their win over the Tigers.

Sobey struck out 14 and allowed only a first-inning single to Fort Fairfield’s Jessica Barnes.

Rene Mick’s two-run double was the big hit in a four-run second inning for Bangor Christian.

Mick added two singles to her totals for the day, while Nicole Pelletier had three singles, Meredith Moores chipped in with two singles and an RBI, Gabby Eastman drove in two runs on two singles, Lisa Phinney had two singles and an RBI and Rachel Sage singled twice for the Patriots.

At Jonesport, Tricia Carver allowed five hits, striking out eight without issuing a walk, as the top-seeded Royalettes beat the No. 4 Mariners.

Carver helped her own cause with a triple and a single. Mattie Alley collected three singles for Jonesport-Beals and Angela Merchant spanked a two-run triple in the fourth.

Catcher Roz Santospago hit two singles and drove in a run for Deer Isle-Stonington. Kim Alley singled twice.

At Oakland, Erin Finlan’s two RBI single in the second inning paved the way for Messalonskee’s victory.

Jamie Wacome notched a double in the fourth inning for the No. 2 Eagles. Jen Baker, Holly Morin, Amy McMullin and Steph Bouchard contributed a single apiece.

Jen Tan led No. 6 Skowhegan with two singles. Kris Burns, Mary Berry, Randi Fortier and Carmen Ballard added one single apiece.
