Alexander captures first pro stock race

HERMON – Scott Alexander of Glenburn led from the pole to the flag en route to his first-ever win in the pro stock division Saturday at Speedway 95.

Alexander was the 1999 pro-stock rookie of the year.

Alexander never led by more than a car length during the 35-lap race. His cousin, Don Alexander Jr. of Glenburn, finished second. Jim Goodman of Orrington, Duane Seekins of Stockton Springs and Patrick Thibodau of Winterport rounded out the top five.

Tompkins earns victory at Oxford

At Oxford Plains Speedway, Tommy Tompkins of Carthage took the lead on lap 16 and held off a late charge by Jeff Taylor of Mercer to earn the victory.

Third place went to Danny Bubar of Windham, followed by Darren Bernier of Minot. Al Hammond of South Paris finished fifth.

Ferreira first at Unity

At Unity Raceway, Tim Ferreira of Unity placed first Saturday night in the Super Sportsmen division.

Ricky Burgess Sr. of Waterville placed second, followed by Ron Nason of Unity, Bubba Nelson of Albion and Jim Collins of Waterville.
