Orono outslugs Trenton 14-8

BLUE HILL – Brian Tewhey hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning to lift Orono to a 14-8 lead over Trenton in American Legion baseball action Wednesday.

Tewhey went on to hit two singles and drive in another run. Ben Clark recorded three doubles and three RBIs for Orono and Jason Sirois hit two singles and a double.

Courtney Bunker notched a solo home run in the fifth inning for Trenton. He also singled. John Lewandowski contributed two doubles and a triple.

At Dexter, Joey Mendell sparked Hermon wiht a double and two singles.

Billy Kane and Brian Hawthorne followed Mendell’s lead with two singles and two RBIs apiece. Jon Blair and Scott Deraps also contributed two singles each.

Craig Harvey led Brewer with a double, a single and two RBIs. Ricky McHale, Chris McHale, Joel Barrett and Jason Harvey notched a single apiece.

At Belfast, James MacDonald slammed a two-out, ninth inning double down the left-field line, scoring his brother Scott MacDonald from second base, as the Suns edged the Wildcats. It was Calais’ first win in two years.

Scott MacDonald had reached base on a walk and advanced to second on a passed ball.

James MacDonald finished with two singles. Doug Adams added a pair of singles and Joe Footer ripped a run-scoring single in the first.

For Waldo County, Abe Dugal pounded out a solo home run and a single. MacDonald rapped three singles and Aaron Tripp and Devin Potvin slammed two singles apiece.
