BANGOR – Nate Bond ripped a single in the bottom of the seventh, scoring Kevin Kotredes, as Brewer edged Auburn in the Junior League (ages 13-14) state tournament at Mansfield Stadium. Brewer advanced to today’s 7:30 p.m. championship versus undefeated South Portland and Auburn was elminated from the tournament.
If Brewer wins today it will force another game in the double elimination tournament.
Nye Gifford earned the complete-game win, scattering five hits. He aided his own cause with a pair of singles, and Kotredes recorded three singles.
For Auburn, Kyle Smith plated a pair of singles.

At Knox, Kelsey Flaherty racked up seven strikeouts in two and two-thirds innings of relief for South Portland in a state tournament win over Hampden.
Hampden was eliminated from the tournament.
Jule Dimatteo belted three singles with five RBIs to aid South Portland while Winona Smith doubled and singled with three RBIs.
Tanna Jellison paced the Hampden attack with two singles as both Lina Patton and Ashley Gott singled with one RBI.

At Bucksport, Joe Robicheau struck out 13 with no walks and belted a double and two singles for Bucksport in a District 3 tournament win over Bangor East.
Nick Osborn doubled to aid Bucksport while Wilson Baker ripped two singles.
Ryan Jones tallied a triple and two singles and scored a run as Josh Seely singled with an RBI for Bangor East.
