MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Brewers placed infielder Jose Hernandez on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to Aug. 11, on Monday night, and recalled former UMaine star Mark Sweeney. Sweeney, who plays the infield and outfield, hit .217 in 39 games with the Brewers this year.

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Brewers placed infielder Jose Hernandez on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to Aug. 11, on Monday night, and recalled former UMaine star Mark Sweeney.

Sweeney, who plays the infield and outfield, hit .217 in 39 games with the Brewers this year. He hit .509 (28-for-55) with 14 RBIs in 18 games for Triple-A Indianapolis.

Hernandez, who signed a three-year, $10 million free-agent contract to be Milwaukee’s everyday third baseman, is hitting .247 with 11 homers and 53 RBIs while striking out a team-high 110 times. He hit safely in five of the last six games he played.
