HOULTON – Hannah Socoby scored two goals as the Houlton Shiretowners cruised to a 4-0 schoolgirl soccer victory over the Hodgdon Hawks in their season opener Monday.

Sarah Beasley scored a goal and chipped in with two assists for the winners. Natalie Foster scored and Emily Rutledge added an assist. Samantha Berry made two saves on five shots.

Amanda Fitzpatrick stopped 12 of 22 shots for the Hawks.

Washburn 3, Central Aroostook 1

At Mars Hill, Michelle Jordan scored an unassisted goal on a corner kick for Washburn while Angela Flanagan and Liza Maynard each added a goal.

Jill Maynard and Amber Blakeney each had an assist for Wasburn. Chrystal Blakeney made 15 saves on 18 shots for the Beavers, who are now 2-0.

Gabrielle Smith scored Central Aroostook’s goal off of an assist from Melissa Robinson. Chantal Gagnon saved eight out of 11 shots for the now 0-1 Panthers.

Wisdom 2, Van Buren 0

At St. Agatha, Michelle Bourgoin scored an unassisted goal for Wisdom and Shanna Soucy scored on an assist from Becky Chamberlain.

Shannon Burbee made 12 saves on 15 shots for the 1-1 Pioneers.

Danielle Gagnon made seven saves on 10 shots for the 0-2 Crusaders.

Boys soccer

Van Buren 4, Wisdom 1

At Wisdom, Eric Ayotte scored two goals in the first half and had an assist in the second, his second goal being assisted by Stacey Ayotte.

Scott Porter also scored an unassisted goal for Van Buren while Tyler Hughes added a goal. Matt Gagnon was Van Buren’s goalie in the first half, making one save on eight shots while Sean Violette saved four out of eight in the second. Van Buren is now 2-0 so far for the season.

Wisdom’s goal was scored by Andrew Gervais and assisted by Chad Gervais. Goalie Rick Sirois made eight saves on 27 shots for the now 0-2 Pioneers.

Washburn 5, Central Aroostook 2

At Mars Hill, Frank Plucker scored three goals for Washburn, one of them unassisted.

Chris Tupper and Trevor Thibodeau each had a goal for the Beavers while Allen Milton contributed with two assists and Shawn Bragg added one. Ben Umphrey saved five out of 11 shots for Washburn who is now 2-0.

Pat Walsh scored an unassisted goal for Central Aroostook while Jeff Clockedile scored on an assist from Justin Woodworth. Goalie Arlie Wiggins faced 22 shots and saved six for the now 0-1 Panthers.
