Weymouth goal powers PCHS > Riitano helps Pirates notch 9th win

GUILFORD – Kacie Weymouth scored with 3:34 left in the second overtime to lift the Piscataquis Community Pirates to a 1-0 high school field hockey victory over the Mattanawcook Academy Lynx Saturday.

Weymouth converted a Susan Kelly assist.

Caterina Riitano stopped all five of the shots she faced for the 9-2 Pirates.

Sara McCormick faced 10 shots and stopped nine for Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln.

MCI 4, Erskine Acad. 0

At South China, Heidi Andrews scored two goals to lead 6-4-1 Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield to victory.

Hayley Ingraham scored an unassisted goal and Holly Higgins had a goal with an assist from Casie Sullivan. Carrie George and Liz Quint added assists.

Sarah Sinclair stopped five of the six shots she faced for the Huskies.

Mary Tibbets faced 10 shots and had four saves for 3-7 Erskine Academy.

Camden 4, Maranacook 3 (2 OT)

At Camden, Carrie Winchenbach scored the winning goal off an assist from Rebecca Stein with 7:03 remaining in the second overtime.

Stein scored a goal of her own and added two more assists while Winchenbach and Heidi Jackson had goals. Becky McCrohan faced eight shots and stopped five for 4-7 Camden Hills.

Erin Calligan scored an unassisted goal for 3-5-1 Maranacook of Readfield while Jordan Pruett scored with an assist from Anna Davis. Danielle Clark scored off a Kelly Perrow pass.

Lindsay Piper stopped 19 of the 23 shots she faced for the Black Bears.

Belfast 7, Lincoln Acad. 0

At Newcastle, Amber Billings scored three goals for 9-2 Belfast while Ann Berry and Kelsey Bryant had assists.

Kate LaHaye and Ashley Bryant each scored a goal and had an assist while Jen Jackson added a goal. Kate Gale scored with an assist from Sara McIntire. Kristina Lane and Tasha Scott combined for 8 saves on 8 shots.

Lindsey Stalinas faced 25 shots and stopped 18 for 2-8 Lincoln Academy.

Girls soccer

Fort Kent 2, Calais 1 (OT)

At Calais, Becka Soucy’s second goal of the game, coming with 1:52 left in the first overtime, enabled Fort Kent to improve to 6-4-1.

Ashley Pelletier assisted on the game-winner and Rolande Johndro and Heather Hartman combined for four saves on seven shots.

Julie Reynolds scored for 6-4-1Calais. Morgan Drew had the assist. Lanna Martin made 18 saves on 25 shots

East Grand 2, Shead 1

At Eastport, Tara Cropley scored the winning goal with 6:56 remaining in the game with the assist coming from Amanda Godley.

Godley tallied an unassisted goal while Lindsay Faulkner faced 14 shots and stopped eight for 7-1 East Grand of Danforth.

Vanessa McPhail scored an unassisted goal for 5-5 Shead while Natalie Smith stopped nine of the 15 shots she faced for the Tigers.

Nokomis 3, Presque Isle 0

At Presque Isle, Sara Lowe rejected 14 shots and Nokomis received goals from Lindsay Welch, Michelle Murray and Aimee Paradis to upend the Wildcats.

Amy Preble had an assist for the 5-5 Warriors of Newport.

Jessica Price made 15 saves for 6-3-2 Presque Isle.

Dexter 1, Foxcroft Acad. 0

At Dover-Foxcroft, Lindsay Turner’s first-half goal spoiled the Ponies’ homecoming celebration.

Turner scored with five minutes remaining in the first half after a scramble in front of the Foxcroft goal. Angie Hogan assisted on the goal for the 8-2-1 Tigers while Briley Belanger made 14 saves among the 16 shots she faced.

Darcy McCormick stopped 16 of 22 shots for the 2-9 Ponies.

BC Patriots 4, DI-Stonington 1

At Deer Isle, Renee Mick scored three goals to power 4-5-2 Bangor Christian.

Lindsay Dupere notched a goal and an assist for the Patriots. Becky Fournier, Meredith Moores and Andrea Sage provided assists. Lee-Ann Trottier faced eight shots and stopped five.

Hollan Oliver scored with an assist from Molly McDonald while Morgan Sickles stopped 12 of the 24 shots he faced for 2-7 Deer Isle-Stonington.

Bangor 2, MDI 1 (OT)

At Mount Desert, Lauren Quaglia scored both goals, including the game-winner just 2:09 into the first overtime, to lead the Rams to victory.

Emily Capehart assisted on the second goal for the 10-1-1 Rams. Melissa Achorn set up the first goal on a corner kick that was redirected to Quaglia by Kerri Tuck. Katherine Miller made five saves on nine shots.

Jenna Gordius scored the lone MDI goal on a Jessi Mayo assist. Sarah Johnson made five saves on 14 shots for the 3-8 Trojans.

JV: Bangor 4-2

Penobscot Valley 6, Central 0

At Howland, Meagan Cyr had two goals for 5-5-2 Penobscot Valley while Alicia Drost, Audrey Porter and Heather Freund each scored a goal and had an assist.

Bianca Colbath added a goal while Nancy Hallett stopped faced seven shots and stopped two.

Jen Allen stopped 17 of the 34 shots she faced for Central of Corinth.

Shead 2, East Grand 0

At Eastport, Cliff Urquhart made seven saves , including one on a penalty kick, as Shead improved to 6-4-1.

arry Bowen scored both goals and Jon Ingersol provided an assist.

Andrew Faulkner made 14 saves for 7-5 East Grand of Danforth.

Boys soccer

Fort Kent 5, Calais 0

At Calais, Anthony Lamar scored and had an assist to pace 9-2 Fort Kent.

Cody Daigle had an unassisted goal for the Warriors, while Kurt Levesque scored with an assist from Casey Boucher. Aaron Ouellette scored on a penalty kick and Scott Thibodeau added a goal.

Nick Thibodeau faced 11 shots and stopped six for the Warriors.

Nathan Pelletier stopped 16 of the 28 shots he faced for 6-3-1 Calais.

Piscataquis 4, Dexter 0

At Guilford, Scott DeCastro had a goal and an assist and goalie Buddy Leavitt made 10 saves on 14 shots to lead the Piscataquis Pirates to the shutout.

Randy Burgess, Matt Bell, and Ryan Cunningham each scored a goal for the 11-0-1 Pirates.

Brian Hersey made 25 saves on 30 shots for the 9-3 Tigers.

Sumner 2, Deer Isle-Stonington 0

At Deer Isle, Mike Cowperthwaite and Alex Brunton scored unassisted goals to propel 4-6-1 Sumner to victory.

Jim Malloy faced 17 shots and stopped six for the Tigers of East Sullivan.

Chris Gross stopped seven of the 13 shots he faced for 3-8-1 Deer Isle-Stonington.
