ELLSWORTH – The Hancock County Farm Service Agency has announced a new wool and mohair program created to assist sheep and goat producers endure low prices. The program began Tuesday and ends Friday, Dec. 29.

The Wool and Mohair Market Loss Assistance Program provides 20 cents per pound for wool and 40 cents per pound for mohair to farmers who have shorn their livestock during the 1999 marketing year and are still currently in business of producing and marketing agricultural products.

Applications are available at the Hancock County FSA office, 190 Bangor Rd. or it can be downloaded from the Internet at www.fsa.usda.gov/dafp/pds/.
