LIMESTONE – The Aroostook Mathematics League meet held recently produced three winners, in Divisions L, S and M. Presque Isle won in Division L; Houlton in Division S; and the Maine School of Science and Mathematics Red team in Division M.
The Maine School of Science and Mathematics also scored a perfect 30 at the first meet of the New England Mathematics League, which holds six meets from October through March. Each meet offers six questions worth a total of six points.
Perfect scores of six points per participant were earned by MSSM students Devin Ludwig, Cole Couture, Sam Critchlow, Ben Heller, Rachel Lee, Aaron Lenfestey, Tyler Mann, Jake Nichols, Alison Wood, Giovanna Thron and Tristan Robbins.
In the Aroostook Math League, Division L, Presque Isle scored 220 and Caribou 154. Top-scoring students were Yuran Lu, Presque Isle, 60; James Mathaway, Presque Isle, 52; Matt Burden, Caribou, 38; Aaron Keirstead, Presque Isle, 38; Kyle Sutherland, Caribou, 35.
In Division S, Houlton took top honors with 228 points, followed by Central Aroostook, 112; Madawaska, 108; Fort Fairfield, 67; and Easton, 52. Top-scoring students were: Daniel Sussman, Houlton, 43; Kate Cummings, Houlton, 39; Frank Henderson, Houlton, 38; Lucas DeLong, Houlton, 25; and Tom Long, Houlton, 24.
In Division M, the MSSM Red team totaled 349 points, followed by MSSM teams, Blue, 334; Yellow, 256; Orange, 206; and Green, 170. Top-scoring students were Ben Heller, MSSM Red, 60; Ransom Byers, MSSM Blue, 56; Cole Couture, MSSM Blue, 56; Allison Wood, MSSM Red, 52; Amanda Criner, MSSM Blue, 51; and Jen Schau, MSSM Red, 51.
