ELLSWORTH – A state legislator from Brooklin has found his win in the Nov. 7 election stretched to a more-than-500-vote margin now that returns from three island communities have been included.
Rep. Paul Volenik, a Democrat who represents District 129, appeared in early returns to have retained his seat by just 109 votes over Republican challenger Claire Grindal.
Most of the district covers Hancock County towns, but it includes three island communities from Knox County: Isle au Haut, Vinalhaven and North Haven.
Once those towns were included, the vote became 2,757-2,245.
