False fund-raising calls made in state Democratic Party’s name

BANGOR – Maine Democratic Party officials issued an alert Monday that bogus fund-raising calls had been made in the name of the Maine Democratic Party, beginning Friday in the Greater Portland area.

Gwethalyn Phillips, chairwoman of the Maine Democratic Party, said, “There are no fund-raising activities for the party taking place at this time. We urge anyone who receives a fund-raising call naming the Maine Democratic Party not to give any money.”
