Looks like neither the Democratic nor Republican parties have a mandate after the recent election. The White House, House of Representatives or Senate do not have a party mandate.
Therefore, why not hold down the projected budgeted expenditure increases and hold down the projected tax cuts at the same time? This would provide a mandate to reduce the national debt much faster. The two major parties need to work together to meet this mandate.
Why should our future generations have to pay for past and possible current mistakes? Reducing the national debt would also help hold down the interest rates; whereby the federal government would not have to compete for borrowed funds. Note that the rich and the taxpayers are not the same. The rich benefit by investing in tax-exempt securities paid for by all taxpayers. Richard Larson Machias
