George Bush kept telling Americans during his campaign that he trusted the people. Well, the popular choice in this election across the entire nation was Al Gore, so what’s the problem? Are the Republicans trying to block a hand tally of Florida votes because it might uncover the fact that Gore won by a much higher margin than they want people to know about? Or are they scared of the discovery of fraud in the Florida election process?

This is a lesson to us that no elections should ever be called until all votes – absentee ballots also – are counted. Deborah Marlowe Liberty
