WINTER HARBOR – The Winter Harbor Water District has issued a boil water notice to customers from the corner of Main and Newman streets and eastward along the service area.

The order, issued Tuesday, will remain in effect until further notice and is due to “problems related to the water system and the possibility of unsafe water,” according to a news release issued by the district. The order says customers should boil any water meant for washing foods or human consumption for at least five minutes before using.

Customers in the region won’t have water service today Wednesday, Nov. 15, while repairs are being made to the system.

People with questions about the order may call the Winter Harbor Water District at 963-7703, or the Maine Drinking Water Program at 287-2070.
