I am canceling my pledge of $90 to Maine Public Radio. Recently announced program changes replace opera and afternoon classical music with talk shows and quiz shows. This brings public radio much closer to the vapid offerings of scores of TV stations with their canned laughter and fractured focus.
It is suggested that we tune into WBACH for classical music. Unfortunately, many of us don’t pick up this station. This sounds like a cop-out and a compromise to big money. For those of you offended by these changes, please make your opinions known both through letters and with the power of the purse.
