Maine Event hoop tourney tonight

BANGOR – Some of the best basketball talent in Maine’s small colleges will clash Friday and Saturday in the Maine Event basketball tourney at Husson College’s Newman Gym.

The University of Southern Maine Huskies will play the St. Joseph’s College Monks of Standish at 6 p.m. Friday, followed by an 8 p.m. clash between the Colby College White Mules of Waterville and the host Husson College Braves.

All four rosters feature lots of area Maine basketball players and may give an early preview between Maine Athletic Conference rivals St. Joseph’s and Husson.

“On these four teams there are at least 20 players from Maine who have been on either all-state teams or McDonald’s Senior All-Star teams,” Husson coacb Warren Caruso said.

The consolation game is Saturday at 6 p.m., followed by the championship at 8 p.m.
