FORDHAM AT MAINE

Time, date: Sunday, 1 p.m.; Alfond Arena, Orono

Records: Maine 0-0 (20-11 last season); Fordham 0-0 (4-24 in 1999-00) Key players: Maine – 5-11 G/F Kizzy Lopez (11.0 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 2.0 apg in exhibition games), 6-1 F Anna James (6.0 ppg, 5.0 rpg), 5-9 G Tracy Guerrette (5.0 ppg), 5-10 G Lacey Stone (9.0 ppg, 5.0 rpg), 6-2 C Christy Grover (11.5 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 1.5 bpg), 6-1 F Heather Ernest (12.0 ppg, 7.0 rpg); Fordham – 6-0 F Nailah Wallace (14.0 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 2.3 apg last season), 6-0 F Kady Kanoute (11.0 ppg), 5-8 G Maureen Garvey (9.9 ppg, 4.4 apg), 5-10 G Chinyere Vann (8.2 ppg), 5-11 F Chelsea Keegan (6.6 ppg, 6.4 rpg)

Outlook: The Bears begin a new era under coach Sharon Versyp with a group short on game experience but long on hustle and desire. UMaine won both its exhibition games, but seeks better execution and chemistry as it learns new systems. Fordham is coming off Friday night’s season opener against Florida. The Rams, under first-year coach Jim Lewis, return their top six players from last season. Among them is North Carolina State transfer Wallace.
