DOVER-FOXCROFT- A local woman required medical treatment Sunday for an injury she received in a car accident on Route 7.
Police said Sunday that a vehicle driven by Dorothy MacDougall, 66, of Dover-Foxcroft crossed the center line on the Dexter Road, sideswiped a pickup truck, continued into a ditch and struck a culvert.
The driver of the 1996 GMC pickup truck, Ronald Bailargeon, 37, of Dexter, was not hurt in the 8:30 a.m. accident.
Dover-Foxcroft Police Officer Graham Pearce said contributing factors in the accident were the position of the sun, which temporarily blinded MacDougall, and the fact that she was tired.
MacDougall was taken to Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft, where she was treated for a cut on her face and released.
MacDougall’s 1999 Ford Explorer was demolished, and Pearce estimated damage to Bailargeon’s vehicle at $6,000.
A dog in MacDougall’s vehicle, which was not injured, was taken to Sherman’s Veterinary Service in Dover-Foxcroft until MacDougall was released from the hospital.
No charges are pending in the accident, according to Pearce.
