HOULTON – SAD 29 and SAD 70 Adult Education is offering free, individualized computer instruction in a new computer from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evenings through Dec. 11 in the Hodgdon High School computer lab.

This class is provided through the SAD 70 community technology grant. There also is a four-session course to learn how to build a Web site using a Windows 98 operating system. The class will run on from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays, Nov. 30-Dec. 21, at the Parkview Computer Center, Main Street, Houlton. For more information and to register, call 532-6554.

The AMERICORPS/GOALS public service project is seeking volunteers to train to give free Internet and e-mail training to residents of the Southern Aroostook area. No previous computer experience is necessary to become a trainer.

The AMERICORPS/GOALS program will train people to train others, one on one, at the Cary Library and at other public sites. Trainers will acquire an important skill and be able to teach computer literacy to area people of all ages.

Student-loan stipends are available to trainers. Trainer sessions will begin right athe fter Thanksgiving weekend. For more information, call Ryan Wheaton of AMERICORPS/GOALS in Caribou at 493-4266.
