GORHAM – Corey Zimmerman hit both ends of a 1-and-1 with 19 seconds to play as the University of Southern Maine Huskies pulled out a 71-68 men’s basketball win over Thomas College Tuesday.

Jason St. Pierre of Bangor scored 18 points and Jeff White of Newport added 14 to pace the USM Huskies. Matt Tarbox had 10 points and eight rebounds.

For the 0-3 Terriers, James Cardaci scored 16 points to lead a balanced scoring attack. Matt Pitcher had 13, Josh Grant added 12, and Caribou’s Scott Raymond and Troy Dunphe each had 10 as the Terriers battled back from a 14-point deficit in the second half.

At Lewiston, Jamie Zahm scored a game-high and career-high 25 points and hauled down 10 rebounds to lead Southern Maine to its victory over Bates.

Niki Dominiczak had 14 points, seven rebounds and five assists for the winners; Amanda Kimball contributed 13 points and three assists and Erin Shaw added nine points.

Kate McLaughlin scored 18 points for Bates and also had a team-high eight rebounds. Lynne Antinarelli popped in 14 points, Marcy Grossman had 13 and Lisa Golobski chipped in with 10 points.

At Waterville, Sarah Walsh scored a game-high 19 points and the Colby College women’s basketball team scored the game’s first 16 points en route to its triumph over in-town rival Thomas College Tuesday night.

Jasmine Ashe and Alyssa Henley contributed 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Heather Farrell’s 16 points, Erin Lovely’s 15 and Kati Morrell’s 14 points paced Thomas.
